Two New Wines on the Shanghai List

We do not change our wines very often. But when we find a bottle that feels like one of us, we cannot resist inviting it in. This time, both come from Orsogna’s Vola Volé range.

Two New Wines on the Shanghai List

We do not change our wines very often. But when we find a bottle that feels like one of us, we cannot resist inviting it in. This time, both come from Orsogna’s Vola Volé range.

Why Vola Volé? Its approach feels close to DULi’s: care for the environment, respect for the land and animals, and a commitment to ecology. As described in our original post, Vola Volé was among the first wines in Abruzzo to receive ‘Biodiversity Friend’ certification. The vineyards favour minimal intervention, and fermentation draws on naturally occurring microorganisms and pollen rather than added commercial yeast. That sounds very DULi to us.

Our two Shanghai selections begin with the Vola Volé ‘Little Bee’ Montepulciano. This signature range uses natural pollen carried by bees and wild yeast in fermentation. Fruity, gently spiced and full-bodied yet smooth, it is a red that grows on you.

The second is the Merlot from the Vola Volé National Parks range. It shares the ecological approach, with a particular focus on protecting natural habitats and wildlife. Softer, with gentle berry notes, it is easy to enjoy and welcoming for anyone beginning to explore natural wine.

We love them because flavour matters—and so does looking after the land.
